Tommy's posterous

Here I sit, wearing pants

Tonight is the first night that I've sat out to enjoy my deck this season.

Truth be told, it's the first time I've enjoyed my deck for a long time.  I spent some time over the weekend cleaning it all up - getting all of the old leaves removed and pressure washing the green wood back to brown.  The experience tonight has only been slightly sullied by my neighbors and their dog, whom I have affectionately named "Assholedog".  Perversely, Assholedog is good (meaning he doesn't bark all of the time) when his owners are outside, annoying me.  I believe it is a far-spread right-wing conspiracy to keep me inside....  My sense of righteous indignation forces me to respond - I will stake out this part of the yellowing world and call it my own.  I can happily say that I have run my neighbors into their own house by playing my rebuttal to their jam-band-crap-music - Neutral Milk Hotel.

Of particular fun on these occasions when I'm outside, is my own beast who likes to drop her ball on my foot to have me throw it for her.  Sadly for me, this is a ploy that works most of the time.  I've attached a little (bad) video that I took of her showing her ball who's boss.  I love the video not because it's good, but because I shot it on the iPhone, uploaded it to Dropbox on the iPhone, edited it in iMovie on my laptop, and am now posting it for your dubious enjoyment, all without standing a single time to go inside.

I have been working out intermittently over the last two weeks.  Not enough to count yet, but more than usual.  Hopefully this is a signal that my winter hibernation and melancholia is at an end and I will once again be a useful, functioning member of humanity.  I'm not yet holding my breath on this topic, but I am somewhat more hopeful than I have been in recent months.

And now I'm off to pack up every piece of the life I used to love...and to have dinner.

HDR!

This is one of my most recent HDR images. A beautiful Georgia afternoon and a fun subject.

I made the image from a bracketed (+2/0/-2) image from my D90 using Photomatix Pro. Others to come!

A new start

I'm going to try start this thing up again. I'll be talking about my photography and my (hopefully) writing. I am thinking of new kit - mostly as a motivation for myself to get out and play with new things, so I'll be posting my impressions here as well.

Big hopes - let's see how it goes.

Cancer Horoscope: Yearly Overview Horoscope - Astrology on Shine

Year 2010 Overview

One thing that all Crabs (astrological Cancers or the seafood type of crab) know deep in their hearts is that someone, somewhere out there knows how great it would be to bust them wide open and eat them with melted butter. The big news for you this year, Cancer, is that Pluto has moved into your Seventh House, which rules marriage, partnerships and close relationships. This means that someone may very well be cracking your heart open in the next year.

Cancer has a bit of a reputation for enjoying doom and gloom. You don't. You just seem to get more than your fair share of it. It must be that thick shell of yours. Everyone assumes you can just take it.

The good news is that you earned that reputation because you can take it, and more. And often, your greatest moments come when you have overcome the greatest obstacles. Thankfully, the roadblocks you face in 2010 won't be that devastating, but they'll certainly give you an opportunity to shine. New support and new energy will be entering your life from unexpected and overlooked people and things, and you'll be able to soar above it all!

Deli Lunch

I had a choice between a delicious, and awful for me, cheese burger, or a slightly less awful for me deli sandwich.

So here I sit awaiting my deli sandwich.  Maybe I'll at least get a cookie or piece of cake...man can't live off of good for you food alone.

Well, that's one done.

I finished my (very painless) upgrade to Snow Leopard a bit ago. Was easy and quite fine.

Now I have 4 more to go...yay family pack licenses! (is it weird that I, as a single person, can use all of the licenses in a family pack?)

Why I Don’t Have a Girlfriend

Does it help if I'm not a paladin??

Cuz I think Warlocks are way cooler.

**Edit - to be clear, this is not my pie chart, I picked it up from the interwebs.  Specifically with regard to the blue bar, I can afford to buy her nice things, I just am not willing to put in effort at the moment...**

Training Day

I spent today in training on how to help people move through changes.

I found it really helpful for me personally - I don't always deal well with change, and it is always nice to have some extra knowledge about how to manage change for myself and with others.

I had a crazy long day though, and really should still be working. But I'm not. I should be writing more, but I'm not. I should be blah blah blah.

So instead of doing what I should be, I'm enjoying writing a little bit, catching up on Mythbusters, cooking, and I will be playing WoW again in a bit.

 Hoo-rah!
